Sarcoma Awareness:
- Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that originates in bone or soft tissues such as fat, muscles or nerves.
- Therefore, it may be seen in any part of the body; however, it is mostly (60%) seen in the hands and feet.
- The symptoms of this cancer are directly related to its location. The first sign of sarcoma is a painless lump or swelling in the hands, feet, or trunk. However, most of these lumps are not sarcoma.
- Occupational exposure to substances such as Agent Orange, Dioxins and Vinyl chloride used in the PVC plastics may increase the risk of sarcoma.
